Frequently asked questions

What is an ABA Doula?

An ABA Doula is an independent advocate who helps families understand and navigate ABA therapy for their child. Just like a birth doula supports families through the birth process without replacing the medical team, an ABA Doula supports families through the ABA therapy process without replacing the clinical team. The focus is on making sure families are informed, confident, and able to advocate for their child every step of the way.

Who do you work with?

I work with families of children receiving or considering ABA therapy, anywhere in the United States. All services are offered virtually.

Do you work with ABA Companies?

No. I work exclusively with families. That independence is the whole point — you need someone whose only priority is your child and your family.

What if I already have a BCBA I like?

That's great! Having a BCBA you trust is a huge asset. I'm not here to replace that relationship. I'm here to help you get more out of it by making sure you understand what's happening and feel equipped to have productive conversations with your child's team.

What if I'm not happy with my child's current ABA provider?

That's one of the most common reasons families reach out. I can help you figure out whether your concerns are clinical red flags, whether it's worth trying to work through them, or whether it's time to start looking for someone new.

Do you work with schools or districts?

No. My work is exclusively with families, and it stays in the ABA lane. I don't attend IEP meetings, negotiate with schools, or provide school-based consultation of any kind.

If you're dealing with a school placement dispute, a special education eligibility question, or anything that involves your child's rights under IDEA, you need someone whose expertise is specifically in that area.

A special education advocate or special education attorney can help you in ways I can't, and I'd rather point you in the right direction than overpromise.

What if my concerns involve both ABA and school?

I can help you think through the ABA piece: whether your child's program is appropriate, whether the goals make sense, whether the hours are right. But anything that crosses into school services, IEP content, or your rights as a parent in the school system is outside my scope. Those two worlds overlap a lot, and it's worth having the right person in your corner for each one.
